Light Life

Light Life depicts the empty interiors of ‘Dance Bars’ in the city of Mumbai. The photographs were shot on the eve of the nightclubs forced closure by the Maharashtra state government. The government felt ‘they corrupt young men and breed crime and prostitution in India’s financial and entertainment heart’. Light Life questions this decision, as many ex-dancers were obliged to seek the very employment the censure sought to discourage.
