Sthalapuranagalu

The story, the history and the space of Samudaya Theatre group became the material for this work. I have used the old Samudaya House, which was being demolished, as the site for my work. This place was used for rehearsals and as an office space. I was narrating the story of Samudaya; of Bangalore; of people, changing with circumstances in life and about myself doing this work. This work is about 120’ x  80’ x  45’ in size. The work was intended to be purely experiential. One had to walk through the work, on the ramps, in the rooms, which had theatre props, and through the well (optional) to feel the work. Live animals, music and hoarding were all integral part of this work.
